"Ganpu tea" means ripe pu-erh stuffed in the peel (dried shell) of a mandarin. The quality of this type of tea is judged by the quality of the peel. The best and the most prized mandarins come from Xinhui, Guangdong Province in Southern China. The peel of the mandarins from Xinhui is believed to have health efficacy and that the older the peel, the higher is its value.

Its principal functions are to regulate qi-flowing for strengthening spleen and remove dampness to reduce phlegm. Its basic indications and uses include fullness and distention in chest and stomach duct, reduced appetite due to vomiting and diarrhea, and excessive phlegm induced cough.

 

 

Drinking suggestion:

Optimum temperatures: around 95-97 °C for good quality pu'erhs

The tea is steeped for 12 to 30 seconds in the first few infusions, increasing to 2 to 10 minutes in the last infusions.
