"Ganpu tea" means ripe pu-erh stuffed in the peel (dried shell) of a mandarin. The quality of this type of tea is judged by the quality of the peel. The best and the most prized mandarins come from Xinhui, Guangdong Province in Southern China. Red mandarins and the small green mandarins are the same fruit harvested from the same trees except they are picked at different times of the year. The red mandarins are picked when the fruit begins to ripen, the size has grown larger and the skin has turned a pretty shade of red. Compared with the green mandarin pu-erh, this tea is less tangy and more sweet, blending into a perfect combination with ripe Pu-erh. Entirely hand-crafted, premium ripe pu-erh was selected to combine with the red mandarin to enhance the overall quality of the resulting tea.
